Who we are

We are Transport Workers Union Local 527.

We are the travel clerks, supply specialists, crafts people, grounds keepers, and electronic technicians that maintain the infrastructure of the Army's Signal Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia and the Army's Quartermaster School at Fort Lee Virginia.  We are employed by:

 -  Akima Facilities Management and IAP World Services at the Fort Gordon Support Project
-   J & J World Services at Fort Gordon's Eisenhower Medical Center
-   Genco Infrastructure Solutions and Advanced Federal Services at Fort Lee

We are also the Biomedical Technicians of MSGI Corporation at Fort Gordon and Fort McCoy, Wisconsin.

Our History

TWU Local 527 received its charter on 1 April, 1997. After many months organizing the employees, Bill Wells, the local's first president, accepted the charter from International Vice President, George Roberts. The purpose of our organization is to unite all workers and to establish through collective bargaining appropriate wages standards and a work environment that is safe and fairly administered. We work to secure legislation safeguarding the economic security and social welfare of our workers, while working to protect and extend our democratic institutions, civil rights and liberties.

Our Location

Our Union offices are located at 1135 Dodge Lane, Grovetown, Georgia.

Dodge Lane is off Gordon Highway, approximately ½ mile from Fort Gordon's Gate 3. The Union offices are currently lodged in a large farm house (approximately 2,700 square feet) on 9.45 acres of land. We hope to build new facilities soon and use the ample acreage to the benefit of the membership. In the coming years, we look forward to a new union hall, office space for our staff and some of our sister locals, and an education/training complex.
